Football: Our minors showed great
commitment to hang on to a 1 point victory away to Magilligan on Monday May
1st. The U-14 Feile Semi final saw a strong Kilrea side dominate the second half and come
from behind to beat the Castledawson lads who had started the game very
strongly. This was a disappointing end to a great Feile campaign, good luck in
the League. The seniors also lost at home to Kilrea this week. The U-16s had a
good win against Bellaghy “B”. Our U-15 girls enjoyed a victory at home to
Limavady in a fine game played at the Broagh on Sunday. Well done to Emma
Taggart who represented us in the “Derry Ladies got Talent” at Glen. St
Malachy’s will host the Cul Camp for 5-14 year old club members from Tuesday
July 5th to Friday July 8th, registration forms will be
distributed soon. Outdoor coaching for the Under 6 – Under 12 football teams
continues on Sundays from 11.15am to
12.30pm. Coaching for female
footballers will be at this time also.
Camogie:
The U-16s were unlucky to lose their league game away to
Bellaghy by 1 point on Friday evening. The U-12s enjoyed more success in a Blitz
against Bellaghy, Loup and Glack on Sunday. Hurling: We’ve started Hurling for U6, U8 and U10s on
Saturdays at 11.00-12.15. All
players will be required to have hurls and helmets. An appeal to any former
camogs or hurlers who may have a helmet or stick lying unused in the garage,
please dust them down and donate them to the Club as that will reduce the costs
for parents. Please speak to any coach or committee member.
Irish Dancing: Congratulations to Megan Cairns, Eimhear
Mulholland and Eimear McElwee who won medals in the All Ireland Irish Dancing
Championships in Ennis last week. Well done to their teachers and fellow team
members in the Smith and Allen Schools.
We are very grateful to all our
sponsors who continue to support us each year. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Any new businesses who wish to purchase a pitch side advertisement should
contact any committee member. Our sponsors support us, please support our
sponsors.
Clothing Bank: There is a
clothing bank located inside the club car park. All textiles, such as sheets,
curtains, clothes, shoes, belts and bags may be put in, but must be clean and
dry. The car park can be accessed at all times. This is a permanent feature and
can be used by anyone.
The pavilion is available for functions and meetings
to all friends of St. Malachy’s at no charge. If anyone wishes to use the club
facilities please contact Anthony Brown or Tommy Joe Doyle.
